I have tested AdvancedHMI on a Surface Pro 2.

If you are good with Linux, AdvancedHMI will run on Linux with Mono

The surface pro is no different than a laptop. For any Windows PC to run AdvancedHMI, you only need to install all of the Windows updates in order to ensure it has the latest .NET framework.

I even have installed Visual Studio on my Surface and do application development with it.

I personally use Visual Studio 2013 Pro on my Surface Pro 2. However I recommend using the Visual Studio Community Edition. It is the close equivalent to 2013 Pro and it is a free edition:

As long as it has the full version of Windows, it will work. There were some tablets with WinRT that looked just like Windows 8, but I think they are all off the market now. The WinRT tablet will NOT run AdvancedHMI.

As long as it doesn't specify that it is WinRT or Windows CE, then it is the full version.

I've got a new tablet coming this week that has Windows 8.1. I will see if I can figure out how to disable the charms fly out.

BTW, I actually found a sub-$100 tablet based on the new Atom SoC and Windows 8.1 Bing. If this works well, it will open some good possibilities for AdvancedHMI.

Hi,

i have also test this tablet Acer 8" tablet W1-810-17FE
and its cheap in the market after you have advised me, as long as the tablet is full windows version.
i have tried and it works perfect.

but i have seen 1 problem this tablet if the hibernate mode option is not disabled the program crashes.
i have disabled it and works perfect.
or if the display option is active also i got this problem.

that is my experience i have seen since i came this field.

any comments about using the AdvancedHMI will be welcomed regarding windows 8 and what ever.

thanks alot

I have not found a way to disable the charms bar. It looks like the only thing you can disable is the top and bottom corners, but not the swipe.

Hi, I have an old pc hosting my hmi screen and installed Realvnc server. You can then download Realvnc viewer on any pc , android or ios device. It's a simple solution .
