Title: HTML5 support
Post by: warren.smith@godlan.com on June 22, 2018, 07:43:37 AM
I know this has been a topic in the past but with the growing interest in platform / hardware independent HMI displays, is there any interest or work being done to make the solution HTML5 capable

Thank you

To do HTML5 would require a complete rewrite of AdvancedHMI. The disadvantage to an HTML based solution is that it would have to be based on the horrible JavaScript language and also it could never achieve the speed and efficiency the WinForms solution currently has.

Microsoft is currently experimenting with Blazor that could be a major break through making it much more reasonable to port AdvancedHMI to an HTML based solution.

I have not tried it yet, but it is on my list. Plus I like doing performance testing and have been curious how responsive a Java backend with a JavaScript front end responds.

To me, it's the best package out there. Java is a downside to some, but I'm fine with it.
