Support Questions / Re: Form Size Limited By Laptop Screen
« on: April 02, 2019, 06:09:52 PM »
I just installed the preview edition of Visual Studio 2019 Community today and the first thing I tested was to see if the screen size is limited to the display, as I had the problem with above.

On my laptop I can make a screen 3220 x 1110 and on my main desktop it goes to 4760 x 2700 in the new VS2019. That on both displays is about 2-1/2 times the screen width and almost double the height.

I have set up 2 SLC5/03's using Moxa's Ethernet serial port adapters. They get installed on the AHMI computer as a normal COM port and use the standard DF1 driver perfectly.

Archie,

Thanks. I was figuring it was in VS.

I did see in the link they updated the next version so this could be changed, but said it wasn't tested yet. Maybe by VS2064???

Support Questions / Form Size Limited By Laptop Screen
« on: February 19, 2019, 06:59:09 AM »
I just made a update to a working HMI using VS2017Community on my laptop at a customers location. I think the project was made using AHMI ver 399s-t, or around then.  I have tested this on a ver 399x HMI and it does the same on the laptop.

The problem is that on the pages I made changes on the laptop the screen size changed to the limited height of the laptop. The HMI is 1280 x 1024 resolution and the laptop is 1600 x 900. At first I though I did something so I went back in and tried to change the affected screen sizes back, but as soon as I pressed <Enter> the size change from 1024 to 900 height. I had to borrow a monitor from the customer and open VS on that monitor, then I could set the height correctly and rebuild.

Is there a way to override this, or is it in VS itself?

Support Questions / Re: Visible By Integer Value Instead Of BIt
« on: November 08, 2018, 06:27:15 AM »
Archie,

Yes, I am using 90 of the MultiStateSelectors, 1 for each recipe step. When I get the memory error opening the screen it shows 1 error - Out Of Memory, but 90 call stacks.

To see which object it was I had 90 of (Basicabel for step #, MultiStateSelcetor for command or AnalogValueDisplay for destination) I deleted different numbers of each, rebuilt, then reopened and the call stack quantity matched the remaining MultiStateSelectors.

I started to delete the MultiStateSelectors and replace them with a MessageDisplayByValue, and a .TXT file of the commands on a second recipe screen. This morning I am going to change the recipe screen used and see if that works - it just won't be graphical.

I finally got this project to the Debug stage (another thread that ended up in updating the firmware of the 5/05 for AHMI to be able to communicate with it)

I have got almost all the screens working fully, but when I try to open the recipe screens with the above objects I get an popup about memory.

On my development laptop (6 GIG RAM) I get an Out-Of-Memory error when I open the screens in VS2017, but they then open. When I rebuild it shows 3 successful, 0 errors and no errors are listed.

When I try to open the screens on the runtime PC I get a popup window about memory, then AHMI closes. The runtime PC has 4 GIG memory, but taskmanager only shows about 40 - 43% used.

If I increase the memory in the (customer's) runtime PC should this run?

Will the memory of my laptop stop it from building properly?

I have thought about moving this to my home desktop with 12 GIG RAM, but have had problems losing everything reopening it on the original development PC. It has been suggested to us VS Teams, but when I got into it I could not find how to import an existing project - only create new, empty projects.

Support Questions / Re: EthernetIPforSLCMicroCom To Older SLC5/05
« on: November 07, 2018, 02:57:12 PM »
I got the 5/05 to take the firmware upgrade, it took about 10 tries before it was successful though.

The HMI does see it now and is working properly. I have been bench testing all the objects and displays on all the screens.

I am thinking that when everything is tested I will program this 5/05 as an upgraded replacement for the line in use and swap it out quickly. Then have time to update the other one for the add-on panel.

Thanks for the help.

Bachphi,

When I downloaded the 5/05 update I thought it was just a package for the ControlFlash software. When I searched for ControlFlash itself the only version that I found was for ControlLogix (ver 15)

I found out that the 5/05 package is the ControlFlash program, and it has multiple versions in it. When I connected to one of the 5/05's it showed it was going to update to FRN 11, not 13. But I was doing this over TeamViewer to my office computer from home and it would not install the update as the PLC was 'not ready'

When I get to the office this morning I have to move the Protect jumper.

Thanks for the help.

Archie,

The version of ControlFLASH  I found for free download was only for the ControlLogix family.

I am searching through a few pages on their download site for a SLC version.

Bachphi,

I just downloaded the firmware update v 13, but it requires the ControlFLASH software, so I am going to buy one of the Ebay packages and hope it works.

I also asked this on PLCS.net and got some info that some of the older 5/05's had smaller RAM that won't handle the new firmware update - hope that's not the ones I have here. Also some older CPU's can only go up to ver 11

Archie,

I looked through my other projects using AHMIZ with a 5/05 and the oldest one I found was a series B FRN 4 with OS501 Series C FRN 4, hopefully the series A's will take it

Archie,

I started searching Ebay for firmware revisions, and then called Rockwell & my distributor, as there are a few different revision levels.

Rockwell only wanted to say that all 5/05's are ethernet capable, with no specific's of which versions are Eth-IP capable. The distributor says a firmware upgrade won't change the Ethernet port, and it would require an add-on card.

Would you know the minimum revision of a 5/05 to use with Eth-IP? On Ebay they start at about $150 which I could get.

Archie,

Thanks.
I installed it, but don't see how to add it to AHMI, or point to it. Is this just a stand-alone program?

I don't have a firmware update for the 5/05's and can't afford to buy one for this project - it's a budget update for a good customer so I quoted a discount price.

Support Questions / EthernetIPforSLCMicroCom To Older SLC5/05
« on: November 06, 2018, 07:06:29 AM »
I have a 399verX project I am doing, adding a second control panel with a 5/05 to an existing line with a 5/05 using Ethernet now.

The 5/05 shows in RSLinx-lite ETH driver, but is not EthernetIP so it won't show in that drivers list.

I have not been able to get the HMI to talk to it either using the EthernetIPforSLCMicroCom driver.

Is there a change to this driver, or another driver, that can talk to this older SLC?

Both PLC's are: SLC5/05, 1747-L552 Series A  Proc Rev 1     OS500 Ser A FRN 1

Yes, each row is a single integer for the motion, and a second integer if the motion = 1 for the destination tank.

The MultiStateSelector is perfect, and it does cut down the use of the PLC driver al lot - I was concerned 600 objects on a page would be a comm's problem. It won't be a problem adding a bit for visibility if the value is 1 to show the destination tank.

Also, AnalogValueDisplay will work great as if the step does not have a destination it reverts to a value of 0, so I set the range at 1 to 99 and visibility if only in the range. This line has 21 tanks and a load station and for some reason the load station is Sta# 99 (not 1) and my 10 added tanks will be 98 to 89, counting down from the load station away from the existing line.

Archie,

I haven't decided what object to use. Maybe a BasicLabel with a special character of a font that is a checkbox like the photo, or a PictureBox with a graphic.

ALT character 251 = √ and 254 = ■  Either one would be OK for BasicLabel

Plus for the Tank # if step=1 that would have to be a BasicLabel to show the integer value, wouldn't it?

Or would you suggest something else?

I have started this using 399verX
