Support Questions / Chart With Logging - Mouse Over

399y Beta 33 Chart with logging.
I have a chart logging two values that is configured to use a line. The values are logged in 15 minute intervals.
When I rest the mouse over the Top line the value at the cursor is displayed. But it does not display a value when resting the mouse anywhere on the bottom line.

Created a new chart and set to enable. There is data in the PLC but it is not showing on the chart and no file has been created, Neither has the datalog directory been created.

Support Questions / Group Panel vs Group Box

While doing some searching about grouping form items so they can be locked together and moved around like in other graphic programs, I read a group panel is recommended by some because it is "Light Weight" compared to a Group Box.
What is the criteria to decide which is the best choice for a particular group of items? I have been using the Group Box primarily because I like the appearance and the ability to include a label without adding anything else but I would like to solicit everyone's view on this.

I understand using the NOT in front of an address but I don't know what the "Modifier" option under "Design" does. I posted an image here.

I have seen this since 399x When using the Align Function, Often times the item to be Aligned gets deleted. As

Feature Request / Relative file locations

Is it possible to have an "Option" make log file locations relative to root of debug directory?
so instead of C:\advancedhmi\etc..........\debug\logfiles
we could use \logfiles
Then whatever device we run the Hmi from can have log files on it. If we copy the run time debug directory to a drive outside the pc or not on the current network we won't have to reconfigure the path.
I would want this as an option in the control config though for the log file location -- Relative or fixed.
Maybe that is not practical and I would not want time invested in it just for me.

Changing how list is displayed clears "Items" collection list such as.
Multi ColHorizontal scroll bar
Once Horizontal Scroll Bar is selected, the ICON pointing right does not clear after changing that option back to false.

Do you have any documentation for your temperature controller? Looked through the forum and did't find many discussions on how people are using it.
I am currently using some calculations in the PLC to anticipate when set point is going to be reached to maintain 1 degree from set point.
Calculations to use include furnace intake air temperature, output temperature, Room Temp and Time to raise "X" degrees. I am using RTDs on a 1771-IFE to read the temps.
What can the AHMI Temperature controller do?

Been searching for a control in AHMI to use for indirect addressing Not finding what I want.
I would like to have a list of items with values assigned to them. When one is selected it writes the value to another integer.
I was looking at combining a thumb wheel or such like with a message display by value to show which item is selected then a button to write the value to the destination word. This isnt actually indirect addressing but I don't see indirect addressing supported in AHMI- Am I wrong?
I have done this in AB Panelviews. What is there in AHMI to do this?

Open Discussion / Communication Distance Limits

This is just an FYI
Don't take the communications distance limitations for Ethernet or DF1 RS232 as though there is some magical pair of virtual wire cutters going to stop communicating at 300' for Ethernet or 50 for RS232 or cause flaky communications.
Depending on your electrical noise environment you will be surprised that you can get reliable communications on both protocols much farther then the stated standard. I have connected Ethernet up to a thousand feet to a POE security camera without an injector and had no issues. 500 feet is clearly reliable for many applications. There does not seem to be a significant voltage drop with the increased wire length. Signals are not attenuated significantly in my experience.
I have connected to a PLC 5/20 RS232 Port with RSLOGIX and Advanced HMI up to 250' using Shielded CAT 5 direct burial Ethernet with absolutely no issues.
You don't need the expensive Belden Blue Hose 9463 for DH+ either for a lot of installations. For non critical applications I run CAT 5 for almost everything, I get a cheap rolls at lowes - 1000' Copper for 60 bucks. The outer jacket is stiff and brittle after a while but once it is in place -----.
Haven't tried copper clad aluminum.
I would just suggest before you go buy some expensive equipment, just try it. An AB Shop set up a demo with DH+ over a barbed wire fence.
I am currently using CAT5e with DH+ to RS Logix and for RS232 I have Cat5e connected to a 50 ft Serial cable to get 80 Feet for the ADVHMI
Can't hurt to try but If I were installing in a factory, Yes I would follow the standard protocol. If you don't AB will tell you to change it if you start having issues. They are fussy about cabling for all of their products, especially drives.

Support Questions / Rotational Indicator Compas Directions

I am using the RotationalPositionIndicator.vb and looking for a way to change the font of the direction labels N,S,E,W and I don't see it am I blind?I looked at the code with an editor and don't see anything other than where the font is hard coded
They are really huge as they are and do not work well with small diameter dials.
If the option isn't there what code could add?Thank you!
