running off laptop direct to 1100  help!!!!

Not sure if PLC port is MDI/MDX auto switchable but this might help:

Either try using cross-wired ethernet cable for direct connection or use ethernet hub/switch/router in between the laptop and the PLC.

Also check and make sure that you have correct IP addresses.
