AHMI runs on Win CE 6.0 with compact .net framework?
« on: November 22, 2014, 11:07:21 AM »
Archie,

What I'm really wanting to know is...can AHMI be made to run on RA Panelview 1500+?

Cheers,

Not possible. AdvancedHMI requires the full .NET framework, so it will not run on CE and the compact framework.

A full Panel PC with Windows 7 is about a third of the cost of a PanelView, so economically it wouldn't make much sense to run it on a PanelView.

My thought was- we have some extra panelviews that arent being utilized...RSview (even if already included) may be more of a headache for change management and support going forward than AHMI would be (restoring a AHMI system simple as copying a folder from a thumb drive).

Oh well, had to ask.

In the very early versions of AdvancedHMI, there was an attempt to make them Windows CE compatible. That was quickly abandoned because some of the simple graphic functions, such as scaling and rotation were not in the .NET compact framework. Also for a while, Microsoft left the future of Windows CE in question because they did not include support for it in several versions of Visual Studio.
