Title: Advanced HMI & Advantech?
Post by: mmuk on September 09, 2013, 03:02:24 PM
Hi. I've just downloaded Advanced HMI to try out as it's free and I'm a programming virgin.

Before I start, is it compatible with the Advantech ADAM 5000 DA&C unit? I have one of these units so I thought I'd use that. I assume I'd need a driver?

Basically all I want is a PC based HMI. I'll be using a laptop running XP SP3 and it won't have internet access, it will be wired directly to the PLC via RS232/485.

Cheers :)

I don't know the Advantech stuff very well, but I am guessing that if you are connecting RS232/485, then it probably uses ModbusRTU protocol. AdvancedHMI only supports ModbusTCP right now. A ModbusRTU should be available around the end of this year.

Hi Archie.

That will be excellent. I wait with baited breath. Many thanks :)
